Munson Machinery Co. Inc. is expanding its headquarters factory by about one-third in Utica, N.Y., where the company makes mixing, blending and size-reduction equipment.
President and CEO Charles Divine announced the news on July 21. The expansion will be completed this month.
“This expansion will boost our fabrication and assembly capabilities to increase production and reduce lead times, and permit reorganization of existing manufacturing space to improve work flow and efficiency,” Divine said in a news release. “It will also allow us to increase the size of our test lab.”
The company is not releasing details about square footage or the dollar amount of the investment, a spokesman said.
The additional space includes an expanded assembly area, with 22-foot high bays and two bridge crane systems to handle larger machinery, a new shipping and receiving area with a loading dock and space for a new water-jet system, sheet metal rollers and additional welding centers.
The test lab will double in size, allowing multiple customer tests at the same time on full-sized Munson equipment.
Founded in 1823, Munson is one of the oldest continuously operated businesses in the state of New York. The company’s equipment for mixing and bending includes rotary batch mixers, ribbon/paddle/plow blenders, Vee-Cone Blenders, fluidized bed mixers, rotary continuous mixers and high-intensity mixers. Size reduction equipment includes screen classifying cutters, pin mills, attrition mills, lump breakers, rotary knife cutters, hammer mills and shredders. | |
