Wire harness and electronic connector systems maker Antaya Technologies Corp. has in-house injection molding.
Delphi Automotive plc will buy Antaya Technologies Corp., a Rhode Island company that supplies wire harnesses and other technologies that connect with automotive glass.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it is expected to close in the fourth quarter of this year.
Antaya supplies connections to automotive glass for technologies such as heater windows, remote keyless entry and antennas. The vertically-integrated manufacturer has its own in-house injection molding.
Antaya is the largest manufacturer of these products in North America, Delphi said in a statement today.
Antaya employs 200 at five locations, including Monterrey, Mexico; Rossdorf, Germany; and Shanghai and Zhuhai, China.
“Antaya is an excellent strategic fit with Delphi, as it adds an important new connector technology to our already strong electrical connectors business,” Delphi CEO Rodney O’Neal said in the statement. “Antaya’s products expand Delphi’s electrical/electronic architecture portfolio into glass applications, adding new customers and driving additional electronic content per vehicle.”
Delphi generated a net income of $382 million on revenue of $4.5 billion in the second quarter of 2014. The company ranks No. 13 on the Automotive News list of the top 100 global suppliers with worldwide sales to automakers of $15.5 billion in 2013.
